Goldship Records Welcomes Ham Radio: A Homecoming

“Gold only shines when it’s been through the fire.”

There are moments in the life of a record label that feel less like business decisions and more like homecomings. Today is one of those moments.
We’re proud to announce that Ham Radio has officially joined the Goldship Records family.

This is more than just a signing. It’s a reunion with our roots.

It’s been nearly a decade since Goldship represented a local or regional artist — the last being our early support of 49 Winchester, long before they became a household name in Americana circles. And now, almost ten years later, we return to where our heartbeat began: homegrown music with something to say and the fire to say it loud.

Ham Radio reminds us why we fell in love with music in the first place.

Hailing from Johnson City, Tennessee, Ham Radio is an emotional rock band that defies easy categorization. Their sound is a thunderstorm of heartfelt lyrics, massive drums, and guitar tones that could shake the spine of a mountain. Their music walks the line between vulnerability and defiance — pulling influence from bands like Sleep Token, Bad Omens, and Paramore, but speaking in a voice that’s entirely their own.

Fronted by lifelong friends Jamon Kyte (vocals/guitar) and Stephan Yampolsky (guitar), Ham Radio is the culmination of a bond forged in the first grade — a friendship grounded in a shared love for music and a refusal to settle. With Josh Kyte (bass/mixing engineer) and David Quillen (drums) completing the lineup, this is a band built on loyalty, grit, and unfiltered expression.

Their debut full-length album, Tirades and Tragedies, will arrive January 2026 on all streaming platforms and vinyl, and will be supported by exclusive merch and more to come. But before that, the world will get its first taste of what this band is capable of with the release of the official music video for “Numb” — dropping this Friday, August 1st.

From the very first listen, “Numb” felt like more than a song. It felt like a declaration — the kind that says, “We’ve been through it. We’re still here. And we’ve got something to say.” That kind of fire is rare. That kind of fire is Goldship.

As Goldship Records enters a new chapter — one grounded in artist development, passion, and purpose — it’s only fitting that we begin this journey with a band who embodies that same spirit. A band that’s forged their identity in the DIY trenches. A band whose music demands to be felt.

This signing also marks a special reunion with Tim Coleman of Swan Song Music, who now manages Ham Radio. Tim’s legacy in the Tri-Cities music scene runs deep, having helped lay the foundation for local music in the early 2000s. Now based in Greensboro, NC, Tim returns in a new role, bringing decades of experience and a trusted hand into the fold. This partnership between artist, label, and manager just feels right — the kind of alignment you can’t fake.

“Signing Ham Radio to Goldship Records feels like coming home,” said Andrew Sergent, founder of Goldship. “At a time when both myself and Goldship are returning to our roots — not just geographically, but sonically and spiritually — there couldn’t be a more perfect fit than this band. We’re honored to welcome them into the Goldship family.”

“Signing with Goldship is a huge step forward for us,” added vocalist Jamon Kyte. “They’re the right kind of label — they care about the music and the people making it. We’ve poured everything into this record, and this partnership is the fuel we needed to take it further.”

At Goldship Records, we believe in the long haul. We believe in the burn.
Because gold only shines when it’s been through the fire.

And Ham Radio?
They’ve been through it — and they’re burning brighter than ever.

Welcome to the fire. Welcome to the family. Welcome, Ham Radio.

Check out Ham Radio!
