Gold Ship Records Welcomes Lydia Saint George

Gold Ship Records is proud to officially welcome Lydia Saint George to the roster!

Lydia Saint George is the artist project of Lydia Guirguis, currently based in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. From the first conversations with Lydia, what stood out most was not just the music itself, but the way she thinks about it. Her writing carries a quiet sense of intrigue that pulls you in slowly rather than demanding attention immediately. Listening to her songs feels a little like discovering a thread that leads somewhere deeper, the kind of curiosity that made internet sleuths obsess over puzzles like Cicada 3301. Not because Lydia is trying to hide answers in riddles, but because her music leaves room for interpretation, atmosphere, and discovery.

That sense of space in her songwriting likely traces back to where she grew up. Lydia spent her formative years in Upstate New York, living in a ninety-year-old house and spending half the year under gray skies and heavy snow. Those early memories still echo through her music. There is a cinematic quality to the environments she describes and the emotions she writes about. Old homes, quiet winters, and long stretches of stillness tend to leave their fingerprints on an artist’s imagination, and in Lydia’s case, those details feel embedded in the texture of her songs.

For listeners who connect with artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Lana Del Rey, and Billie Eilish, Lydia occupies a similar emotional space. Her music leans into intimacy and mood, allowing subtle details to carry weight rather than overwhelming the listener. Instead of trying to grab attention immediately, her songs tend to make you lean in closer, rewarding patience and repeated listens.

Lydia herself will tell you that she feels most comfortable in the studio. While performing can feel intimidating at times, the recording environment allows her to settle into the creative process in a way that feels natural and instinctive. When she is writing or recording, the possibilities feel wide open, and ideas tend to arrive effortlessly. That sense of exploration is where much of her confidence as an artist lives.

Her influences offer more clues into the stories she gravitates toward. Lydia often returns to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson for the way it balances everyday realism with mystery and suspense. Films like The Silence of the Lambs and The Village stuck with her not only because of their storytelling, but also because of their haunting instrumental scores that linger long after the movie ends. Even musically, her connection to A Lot’s Gonna Change by Weyes Blood points to her appreciation for slow-burning emotional depth.

Although Lydia Saint George is a new addition to Gold Ship Records, she is not new to releasing music. She already has several releases under her belt and has been steadily developing her sound and artistic identity. Her debut release with Gold Ship Records is currently expected to arrive in the fall of 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her career.
